When I first heard about this photo challenge I was excited as it was the style of the Photographer, Jim Golden. I have seen Golden's arranged collections photography and always found it interesting. It made your eyes dart around and take in the smaller details of all the objects and then you end up seeing the whole image, the whole collection as one thing. It reminds me of a puzzle and it is satisfying to see things arranged.
The idea for this image came to me as I flipped through examples. After collecting the keys I needed for the image the next step was to figure out how I was going to compose and lay them out. I went through a many different arrangements until I finally came up with the idea to portray it as what it was, a key. It goes back to looking at the whole collection as one thing. I really love this image as I see the smallest, distinct details of something so ordinary. I believe that the image renders a question or a wonder to the viewer. It speaks of secrets as you don't know what each key could unlock.
