In my photos I really wanted to portray a story, or a meaning. For this particular photo I wanted to show freedom. Taking the photo was quite difficult but also amazingly fun. Through my images I wanted to show my strong understanding of the camera, and composition. I also learned a lot about lighting, colour and exposure of my pictures. Desirable natural lighting was hard to get with the early sunset but I took it upon myself to create proper lighting and settings for my photos. Many of the more elaborate ideas were attempted but not completed...yet, I hope to try them in the future. These past few weeks have really taught me about photography, and has gave me the experience of using props.
As I read through the theme for our new photo challenge one word caught my eye, Fairytale. Our beloved classic tales of heroes and villains. I took this idea and turned into inspiration for my photos. The whimsical side of Disney or the dark side of the Grimm stories, both ideas appealed to me. I quickly came up with a huge list of ideas and many of them seemed quite challenging to take and edit, but that wasn't going to stop me from trying.

I love this photo and think that you did a great job in being imaginative. It's dreamy, yet it has a eerie, dark feel to it.

Definitely one of your greatest photos. The photo has a certain eerie darkness to it, yet it is also beautiful and mystical at the same time. It is evident that you had fun in creating this wonderful image. Everything, from framing to shadows to theme and much more, about this photo is flawless. This whole thing just screams "Fairy Tale." Amazing work!

This is definitely one of your most creative photos! I love the way the person has several shadows because it gives it a more mysterious effect. I think that you really achieved your idea of portraying freedom by positioning the butterflies in a way that they look like they're flying away. Overall, great job!

Im in love with this photo! The butterflies coming out of the jar really represents a fairytale! Keep on with the amazing and beautiful work! Also the shadows of the human and butterflies look cool! Also the human follows the rule of thirds, which really brings out the butterflies!

This photo is really really incredible! I love the idea, it is so creative and it leaves the viewer curious. I think if you had taken this photo in the studio or replaced the background with a solid colour (no wrinkles), the subject matter would stand out even more. I might also make the person holding the jars shadow a little sharper. The blurriness of it is a little distracting. Using the rule of thirds really makes the photo more pleasing to the viewers eyes.
