We are social creatures, and therefore our emotion, our state of mind, is presented as a social cue for the rest of the world to see. Still, emotions can be more than a smile or frown. The emotions you feel have an impact not just on yourself but others around you.
I am very happy with how this image turned out. I am most proud of the fact that I was able to capture such a raw, real emotion. It is as the memory has been frozen in time.
This shows my brother. He is usually a really positive, happy person so it was no surprise that during our conversations he laughed. Fortunately I was able to capture the moment of his laughter and the image produced still echoes with the same laughter I heard on that day. Technical wise the set up for this photo shoot was very well done. I had bright natural light from the sun, a strong focus, and a balanced exposure. The composition also turned out very well and aided in extenuating the mood. In my editing stage I came to the decision to put the image in grey scale. My choice was made as I really wanted to simplify the image; take down details so the main focus is always the authentic emotion.
