For this week's challenge I really wanted to freeze time. I wanted to show an intense moment we usually don't get to witness. I think I achieved kinetic still life with my photos because even though they are still you get the feeling of motion it, brings a action driven mood to the photos.
This photo was really fun to set up. I choose a plain black background to divert the focus onto the subject and to emphasize the water as it is clear. I also choose to use a clear cup as I wanted to show all the motion that was possible. taking these photos I really got to experiment with the shutter speed and how it impacts the exposure of the photo. I set up the shoot in bright natural lighting but with time the light got darker, I admit that the ISO is not what I would like but it was needed to balance the exposure. When composing this image I also had to pay attention to what was dropped in to the water to create the final effect. In the end I decided on this red block. It was a good choice as it made a significant disturbance to the water, and it was a bright colour so it made the image much more interesting and fun. In the end I am really proud of the results I achieved during this challenge.
